Search for myspace Layouts, then they should have an HTML code, copy and past in the "About me" section of your profile, to get to that section up by your profile pic select the link "EDIT PROFILE" and it will take you to a bunch of blank boxes the first one should be your about me section. All you have to do is past your copied HTML code in the section then save changes, (where it might ask you to enter the letters that you see in a box) annoying I know but Very easy....

There are more than enough places to get codes from, so please save the "Learn CSS" gibberish. I have yet to see an artist page that has a background. Plenty of manipulation to the layout but nothing in the back. Can someone please explain this? Is it lack of knowledge or is it different than a regular myspace page? And if you would be very nice, please explain where to place the code. I'm sure more people will link to this question as more artists become frustrated looking on how to do this, Thank You.

Find layouts. Either google a layout you want or use a layout wesite, they're not hard to find.
The myspace backgrounds are written in either HTML code or XML not sure one of the two, but certin websites across the web can sell you thease codes and or you may copy and paste it.
Once you have done so go to edit your profile and anywhere in any of the boxes simply paste that code in.
After that your set, enjoy!
The best way to use someone else's background (and the most decent way) is to save the image of the background to your computer and then upload the image from your computer to an image hosting site like imageshack.com or photobucket.com.
Then you get the direct link they give you for the image and plug it in to this code which goes into your about me.

you can go to mypimpspace.com, they have alright layouts but my favorites are from these people that make them that have profiles on myspace that you can just find a ton of really good backrounds and layouts on their profiles. you can look me up (sweet_violin_qt@yahoo.com) and look at my friends list and there's a couple of layout makers on there like "hot layouts" and "mj designs" but they're mostly on the second page of my friends list

After you find the one you want, the website will show you a bunch of codes, you have to select them all, copy, go to your myspace profile, choose to "Edit Profile" and paste all those codes in "About Me" section.
After that if you want to write something about you, you should do it after those codes in the same text box.

Hello! I'd be glad to help you! There are sites that you can visit to choose a background. The are all sorts of categories...like girly, scenery, alcohol, sports, love, etc. Just to name a few. The sites that I have chosed backgrounds from are www.hotfreelayouts.com, or www.pyzam.com, or www.pimp-my-profile.com. There are lots more sites with free myspace layouts. Just type in a search box on yahoo, free myspace layouts, if you don't find anything here. Once you find something that you like, click on it. underneath the pic there usually is a box that has a code in it. Usually there are instructions, but you can copy and paste that code into any box on the edit profile page on your myspace page. DOn't forget to save, you can even preview it in case you don't like it. One way that I find websites to get layouts is to look at other people's pages, usually it tells where they got their page from. Then I go there to look. I even saw on one site where they had a layout code stealer...or something like that...so if you see someone's layout you like you could use that to copy their layout. I hope that I've been helpful! Use your own pictures that you took...upload them into photobucket or something and then just grab the URL code for that picture and place it in the HTML code on your mysoace...
if you search myspace profile editor on myspace search youll get a really good site.
Resize the image to 1072X768 so it will fit the entire screen,and wont be tiled...
Use bigger images during the generation...the generator should also give you the option when you add the picture to your creation...

first thing is to go to

then on the left scroll down to the myspace.
click on myspace layouts
pick one you want (thousands to choose from).
copy the code under it.
go to myspace and click edit profile (right of picture/name).
paste the code any where in on your profile (i did mine in the about me section, but you can use any, i just wouldn't put it in the very first one/the smallest one).
then click on save changes.
then view profile (upper right in the edit profile, or under your picture on the main page for your myspace). wait a bit until everything loads up and it should be there.

They don't make it easy, you have to add html code inside the area for changing your about me message. So, once you are logged in click on edit profile, then just below your About Me message text (still in the same textbox) enter the following:

This says that while the image is loading it will just be the color white (#FFFFFF). Replace the example image with your actual image, you may want to signup with an account at photobucket.com for free image hosting. The repeat will tile the background image. If you already have MySpace code that you are using from a MySpace Layouts website, then just replace the image location within the body (do not have two body's).

There will be the sections where you placed stuff, like " I have fun with...BLAh blah blah"
In that section, you place codes for layouts that you copy from other sites. (i.e. got myspace layouts, and copy the profile thingamajig under the profile style you like.
Keep in mind to do this well, you should have at least two internet browsers open.
You then paste this new profile into your About Me, or anyother section on your edit profile.
Don't worry, it will not show up on your profile. It will only display the style of layout that you want, after a while you will be able to see the little things that make it work.
all the other answerers are not very clear or are making it too hard for you. First, you have to find a background that you like. On myspace, they are called layouts. You can go to google and type in myspace layouts. There are many websites out there but I personally like createblog.com becuase they have so many layouts. You just have to be sure that the layout you choose on createblog is for myspace becuase they offer for other websites too. After, you pick one that you like, then you have to click on it and that will bring you to a page with a picture of the layout and its code. Copy the whole code. Then, go to your myspace homepage. Click Edit Profile. THen go to your about me section. Then paste the code in there. Then go to the top of that page and click save changes. If you have never changed your background this is what you should do. If you have then you should delete the one that you already have. I hope that helps.

Go to yahoo search type in myspace backgrounds or layouts and there you go!
It could be your browser, I had this happen when I used one other than IE. Are you using Internet Explorer or another one, like Firefox/Mozilla? If you are unsure, check you top right-hand corner, right under the X to close the page.
that happened to me before the only solution is to ..just not put anything from their on ur profile,...Hope this helps
Try Making One Yourself. Google,Yahoo and Altavista all have wonderful Image Searchers. I use them to create my backgrounds or layouts.
Listed below are directions for making your own layout or background. Good Luck!
I do this Once a Week at Least. It is Easy Once You Learn. First You Need Links to do this on. They Are Listed in the Sources Section.
First Link is to a Image Hosting Site and Second Link is to the Profile Generator.
Here is How You Create Your Layout:
1. Do an Image Search to Find Your Picture.
*Hint: Choose Wallpaper Size it works better*
2. Save Your Image to Your Computer
Now onto the First Link:
1. Click the Browse Button
2. Find Your File
*Hint: If you saved a Wallpaper Size Image You Can Skip Step 3 %26amp;4*
3. If You Chose a Small Image then Check the Box Next to Resize.
*Hint If You Resize 800x600 works the Best*
4. Copy the "Direct Link Image" You Need this in your next site.
*Finished With Link ONE*
Link Two:
1. Turn Background Image On
2. Paste the Link You Copied From Link 1
3. Choose Main Text Color
4. Choose Text Size
5. Choose Link Color
6. Choose Link Text Size
7. Choose Link Text Hover Color
8. Choose Link Text Hover Size
9. If you want Borders Click On for the Borders
10. If you want Image Effects Click On and Choose The effect
***Now Click Generate Code Button***
11. Copy The Code it Gives You
12. Go to Edit Profile on Myspace
13. Paste the Code in your "About Me" Section
***Finally Click Save Changes***

copy the code from a myspace layout site in your "about me" section.
Copy the "HTML" code from the site you want to get your layout from.
Find the background you want, I DO suggest using a site like DeviantArt, and get a wallpaper background (the size is already correct, but no larger than 1024 for Photobucket). Download the pic to your computer and then upload to Photobucket.
In your "about me" section find the text similar to this (usually near the top of your code):

That's how I got mine, and I did get permission from the artist. Most are quite willing to let you use their art as long as you make sure their logo shows

You can either create a custom layout at a site such as http://www.mygen.co.uk , or you can use HTML or CSS (if you know either) to put the picture as the background (though in my experience it never looks right -_-).
The HTML code would look something like %26lt;body background="photourl.jpg"%26gt;, and you'd put it in the About Me section. But I honestly don't know if it will work for you or not.
I agree with the previous answer, but your "WYSIWYG" editor can also do it for you.
I used to do it with MS FrontPage, it is quite easy but be careful that your image will not adjust automatically to the size of your page.
Now, because my version of FrontPage is obsolete and I don't want to buy a new license I use MS Word. It works but it is a little more tricky: better practise your right-button virtuosity first!

It's not going to show on your homepage -- just your profile page.
Make sense?
Click back and forth between your profile and your homepage and you'll see it's still there.
And make sure that you save all changes after you preview the profile.
It is not going to show up on the main screen you look at. you have to click profile under your picture to View it, If it does not show up on your profile then chances are there is something wrong with the code and you will have to find a new background.

well my opinion would be to make your own. find an image on google that you like, i dont know what you are looking for. and then right click it and save the picture. then go to photobucket.com and upload the image there then go to http://www.mygen.co.uk/ and when it asks for a picture url, go to photobucket and copy the URL box right under the picture. and create a layout. my suggestion is that you find an image that would look good tiled OR find an image that would look good centered/ full screened. customized all you want!

I cannot see any backgrounds in 360 or myspace. In 360 when I click on customize theme, the outlines of the various tiles for backgrounds show up, but there is not image inside the outline. I cannot even see any samples. In myspace I have tried re-copying my html code for my background and it still doesn't display. Yet I can go on another computer and look at my pages and my backgrounds show up. I can't think of anything else to try. I don't have the option in IE checked to ignore webpages fonts and colors, this was the last thing I tried. Don't know what else to do, please, someone! Help?
You will want to have the files saved onto your computer, then upload them. I don't think putting in a photo address will work-perhaps over in myspace, but not for the tiling in 360.

Create your own code in the editing fields. Find the image you want as your background and upload it to the Image Shack server. Hopefully your image will be large enough for the page not to look distorted. Generally the size of the image should be 1024x768 or 1280x1024 pixels. Actually you have to remove code to get rid of it. Is the "hot-lyts.com" banner there because you put in a code for your profile? If so go to that code and scroll to the bottom of it there will be a character " %26lt;/style%26gt; and than some mumbo jumbo after it, well everything after %26lt;/stlye%26gt; you delete and it will remove the banner if you did it right.
Leave it there. These people work hard on these layouts %26amp; deserve credit.

whenever you want to change your layout or background, go to 'Edit Profile', and backspace the entire code, then add the new code in.
For your situation now, just backspace all your codes, and save changes, then add the background you wanted.
At this point, you may need to just delete everything in the section of your profile you pasted the backgrounds into and start over. Unless you're really slick with html and can tell what you're looking at well enough to go through and delete what you want. Good luck :)

I have made tons of myspace layouts and do a lot of that type of stuff and would like to do something useful with it even if it doesn't make money. I have a lot of spare time and love to play on the net....I am talking about sites similar to wishafriend, mygirlyspace, commentyou, etc.....I have seen on the news where young people started lots of those types of sites in their basements in their spare time and stuff.....Thanks for any help!
you could set up a similar site but make sure you have something unique to offer and a way to drive people to access your site in order to see the benefit of people using your materials. if you want to make money doing it, you would likely need to set up a way to incorporate your business and show that you are attracting traffic to your site. you could then include advertising on your site and make money based on the number of people who you drive toward your advertisers' sites.

Myspace is changing things around constantly, sometimes older codes will no longer work. Best thing to do is try a site like www.pimp-my-profile.com which is probably the most popular at the moment...

copy the part where it tells you to copy and put it into the very top of the about me section...if this doesn't work then try a different website with different code...

choose a background
get the code from there
copy
go to edit my profile on myspace
paste it onto the about me section
thats it
you copy the code and paste it in your about me section you have to go into edit profile to paste your code you cant do it from your profile page
what did you copy %26amp; pasted? Did you pasted the background or did you pasted the html code that is needed?

There are a lot of cool layouts on http://www.cleanupmyspace.com. You cut and paste into the about me section and save changes, but then sometimes you have to go back to your home page and click the "view my profile" button under your picture to really see what it looks like. When you just view it in the screen where you're editing, it doesn't always show correctly, so that could be the problem!
here are some websites were you can get some layouts just copy their code and paste it at the bottom of about me section make sure if you have any other layout code on there to delete it...and then you just click save all changes and it shoudl be all good....

I guess you could find a pic online thats not protected by a copyright save it in your picture files. Then use a layout generator to make your own myspace. I did this with mine it turned out pretty good but i didnt like having to link the site i got the generator to my profile. Hope this helps. They have background codes maybe you can find the pic you are looking for on ones of the sites that offer those. Good Luck
